Privacy Notice

This explains what personal information The Care Compass collects, why, who helps us handle it, how long we keep it, and your rights. We keep it to the minimum we need.

Who we are

The Care Compass is run by Steve Evans, a sole trader trading as The Care Compass, based in the UK. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). For anything about your information, email info@thecarecompass.uk or use our Contact page.

What we collect and why

• Free calendar, booklet and email updates: your email address, so we can send what you asked for and, about four times a year, new guides and practical tips. Lawful basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
• Printed calendar reservations: your name, email address and the number of calendars, used only to manage your reservation and tell you whether printing goes ahead. We don’t add you to our mailing list unless you sign up separately. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before any purchase.
• Contact form and messages: your name, email and message, so we can reply. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry.
• Guide suggestions (Shop page): your suggestion, and your first name and email only if you choose to give them, so we can tell you when that guide is ready. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in improving our guides. Please don’t include personal or health details.
• “Was this helpful?” feedback: your answer and any comment you choose to add. Please don’t include personal or health details in comments.
• Website analytics: Google Analytics tells us, in general terms, which pages are used, so we can improve the guidance. It uses cookies and does not tell us who you are.
• Purchases: paid resources are currently sold through Etsy, which handles your order and payment under its own privacy policy.

Who helps us handle it

We use trusted service providers to run the site and send emails. They process information for us and only as we instruct: Netlify (website hosting and forms), MailerLite (email), Google (analytics and email) and Etsy (shop orders). Some of these may store data outside the UK, with legal safeguards in place. We never sell your information or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

How long we keep it

• Email updates: until you unsubscribe.
• Printed calendar reservations: if you don’t go on to buy, we delete your details by 31 January 2027. If you buy, we keep order records for six years, as required for tax.
• Guide suggestions: up to 12 months, or until we’ve told you the guide is ready, whichever comes first.
• Contact messages: up to 12 months after our last reply, unless we need them longer to help you.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Just email info@thecarecompass.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
